These traditionally styled white washed storey and a half buildings were called the Threshing Cottages. They would have once been used to thresh or beat sheaves of golden corn as they arrived on the estate, in preparation for processing in the mill. Overseen by the Lotman (who was typically paid an allowance of corn as part of his fee) the threshers beat the sheaves with flails to separate the valuable plump grain from the inedible chaff.
Tastefully designed as fantastic modern semi-detached homes the white washed Threshers Cottages stand proud framing the front elevation of the estate. Punctuated with authentic period detailing the cottages feature rustic brick chimneys, rustic brick window heads, ornately detailed barge boards completed with feature finial's and hand painted hard wood front doors.
